Francisco J. García obtained a Masters of Laws degree from Cornell Law School, Ithaca, New York, in 1987. He obtained his juris doctor degree from Inter-American University of Puerto Rico School of Law, Santurce, Puerto Rico, in 1986, and a Master in Business Administration, also from Inter American University, in 1983. Mr. García graduated from the University of Puerto Rico in 1981 obtaining a B.B.A with concentration in management.
Until July 2016, Mr. García was a capital member of the law firm Goldman Antonetti & Córdova, LLC and formerly chaired the Corporate and Banking Law Department. He also directed the Merger & Acquisitions & Reorganizations Practice Group. Mr. García concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate transactions and securities and public finance. He has also participated in several municipal and government bond issues, acting at times as a bond counsel and others as counsel to the underwriter, the borrower or the letter of credit bank.
He has been involved in several capacities in transactions involving real estate projects and land developments, roads and governmental infrastructure, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical plants, telephone and public utilities, transportation facilities, manufacturing plants, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, office buildings, and residential and public housing projects, among many others. Mr. García actively participates in securing, selling and/or representing parties in the tax credit market, including conservation, tourism, urban development and manufacturing tax credits. Mr. García’s practice areas include: Mergers & Acquisitions & Reorganization; Banking, Finance & Financial Institutions; Antitrust & Trade Regulation; Real Estate & Land Use; Estate & Gift Taxes & Trusts; and Securities, Capital Markets & Public Finance. In addition, he provides general corporate counseling and contract interpretation to several clients, including dealer’s contract under Puerto Rico Law 75. Mr. García is admitted to practice law in Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First District.
